Pros

  • An established broker since 1999 with the mature Trading Station & MT4 platforms
  • Now backed by a large financial group (Jefferies/StoneX)
  • International entities regulated by FCA/ASIC/FSCA

Cons

  • Permanently banned from the US market (2017) + a US$7 million fine for hiding a conflict of interest — a serious regulatory record
  • Trust was dented by that case; verify the entity serving your region
  • Leveraged products are high-risk

Risk & regulation notes

IMPORTANT: In February 2017, FXCM was permanently banned from the US market by regulators (CFTC/NFA) and fined US$7 million for hiding a conflict of interest with a market maker (a misleading 'no dealing desk' claim). The company then exited the US. Its international entities are now regulated by the FCA and others, but this history is important to weigh before signing up.

Editorial review 2026-08-21: regulation score held back (3/5) due to the 2017 permanent US market ban + US$7 million fine, even though international entities are now FCA-regulated. Included as a primary con.
